Attendance will top 4,000 for the Minnesota FFA State Convention that is underway in the Twin Cities. Thousands will compete today in career development contests and 400 will receive proficiency awards this afternoon. Another 370 are scheduled to earn their state degree. The theme for this year’s convention is Aspire to Be, Reach for the Horizon. “Our students when they are first members are taught the FFA creed and that begins with ‘I believe in the future of agriculture’ and the theme for this year’s convention captures that perfectly,” said State FFA Executive Secretary Juleah Tolosky. Students are often encouraged to believe a four-year degree and working in the big city is the only path to success. Tolosky said that is one option, but students can also be successful by returning to the farm or working in their hometown rural communities. RRFN’s coverage of the MN FFA Convention is sponsored by AgCountry Farm Credit Services, Minnesota Farm Bureau, Associated Milk Producers, Inc. and Minnesota Farmers Union.
