According to the quarterly hogs and pigs report, the swine inventory, breeding herd supply and market hog numbers are up two percent from last year. “We continue to have plenty of hogs, there is no doubt about that,” said John Nalivka, president, Sterling Marketing. “With the losses that were incurred going into the second half of last year and the first quarter of this year, there has been some slowing of the expansion phase.” Minnesota’s inventory of hogs and pigs was up two percent. The total is up ten percent in South Dakota.
