Trade was on the agenda when a group of Republican Senators met with President Donald Trump in the White House on Wednesday. A strategy to move the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement through Congress was reviewed. “We talked about the steel and aluminum tariffs,” said North Dakota Senator John Hoeven. “If those could be removed, it would get us more votes.” Hoeven said the trade negotiations with China were also a part of the conversation. “Negotiations are going well from the Administration’s standpoint, but we need to get them concluded as soon as possible.”
