California Congressman Jim Costa has thrown his hat into the ring, hoping to lead the Democratic caucus on the House Agriculture Committee in 2027. Costa has been in Congress since 2004 and made a similar run two years ago. The position will be open with Minnesota Representative Angie Craig not returning to Congress. Ohio Representative Shontel Brown previously announced her candidacy for the job. House Agriculture Committee Chair Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson is seeking a waiver to serve another term in committee leadership. Georgia Congressman Austin Scott has also voiced interest in the GOP leadership role.
