Disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz continue to influence global nitrogen fertilizer supplies. StoneX Vice President of Fertilizer Josh Linville says some fertilizer shipments are getting through, but normal vessel traffic has not resumed. “That’s reducing the amount of urea that’s being exported, the amount of anhydrous that’s being exported, the amount of gas that’s usually exported to other global marketplaces to feed their nitrogen production plants.” Linville says rising natural gas prices in Europe are also putting fertilizer production at risk, with more facilities considering shutdowns.
