Farm groups are hoping Congress will act on a new farm bill and year-round E15 legislation following the November election. National Corn Growers Association President Matt Frostic says the organization continues working with lawmakers to advance both priorities during the lame-duck session. “It’s been a long road, sometimes very frustrating that there’s so much support for it, but yet there’s key blockages in that pathway,” said Frostic. The financial pressure facing corn growers makes congressional action even more important. “American agriculture needs these wins, in an industry that’s really faltering over the last three to four years.” Frostic warned farmers may not have the financial resilience to withstand another year of negative margins.
