Agricultural education students Allison Jepson of Frazee and Mallory Kowalki of Nevis got hands-on experience while working at the University of Minnesota-Crookston booth at the National FFA Convention. Jepson, a collegiate FFA advisor, said the convention gives students practice approaching and communicating with others. “You see a few kids who get a little nervous when they’re walking up to a booth, but then when they actually get up there, they start talking and they just show themselves entirely,” Jepson said. Kowalki said they’re learning to be more outgoing. “They’re getting confidence in themselves as a person, as a speaker, and just having a lot of fun with the personal development, professional development and learning about agriculture.”
