Cattle markets continue to outperform grains as harvest pressure and fund selling weigh on corn, soybean and wheat futures. Martinson Ag Risk Management President Randy Martinson says the list of strong-performing markets is getting shorter. “Right now we’d have to say maybe the cattle market is a little bit hot,” said Martinson. “We had a disappointing week last week, just steady to a little bit lower. But overall, they’re still trading in the upper ranges.” Wheat remains among the weakest performers, losing more than a dollar since reaching its August highs. Martinson says wheat futures have posted seven consecutive lower sessions as the market searches for support. Corn and soybeans are also struggling with harvest pressure and continued fund liquidation. Soybean futures have lost more than a dollar from their recent highs and are approaching important technical support levels. Click here to listen to this week’s full report.
