Aigen has developed the solar-powered autonomous robot designed to remove weeds mechanically without herbicides. The technology can operate up to 12 hours a day depending on sunlight and weed pressure. Aigen co-founder and CEO Kenny Lee explains how the robots navigate fields without an operator. “The system is designed to provide precision weed control throughout the growing season,” said Kenny Lee, co-founder and CEO. “You buy into the equipment or the service at a fixed price and over the years you at least have an idea of the output that you’re going to get as a result of that.” While upfront costs are higher, the company hopes the system will provide a more predictable cost while reducing variable expenses.
