According to the NDSU Integrated Pest Management Crop Survey, soybean aphids were found in 12 percent of the fields surveyed this past year. That’s half the infestation levels seen in 2025. Cool, wet conditions kept the population low early in the season, and hot, dry weather in July and August slowed aphid reproduction. Soybean gall midge was found in two new North Dakota counties, Richland and Dickey, both near the South Dakota border. NDSU reports grasshoppers were found in 27 percent of the fields surveyed, down from 74 percent last year.
