Recent heavy rainfall has brought significant drought improvement to parts of North Dakota and Minnesota. The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows drought coverage and intensity declining across northern and eastern North Dakota following heavy rain near the Canadian border. Northwest Minnesota moved completely out of drought, while severe to extreme drought also eased in other areas near the North Dakota border. South Dakota saw fewer changes, with abnormal dryness and longer-term drought remaining in parts of the state.
