Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has issued an executive order to help farmers and the timber industry deal with record high diesel prices. Trucks hauling ag products can exceed regular weight limits by up to ten percent on state and local highways. This relief is for farmers moving corn, soybeans, wheat, potatoes and sugarbeets from harvest sites to the first unloading point. Temporary hours-of-service exemptions are also in place for hauling fuel as part of emergency relief efforts. Action has been taken at the state level in nine states, including the Dakotas.
