Ada, Minnesota-area farmer Neil Rockstad says extremely dry conditions this summer produced high sugar content during pre-pile, but also made digging difficult. Once the rain arrived, the crop responded quickly. “They were putting on some tons and as they grew rapidly and soaked up that rain, then the sugar content began to drop.” While the recent moisture should add some tonnage, it “won’t make up for two months of lost time.”
