In the new USDA Small Grains Summary, the Agriculture Department reports this year’s average yield for spring wheat in North Dakota was 51 bushels per acre. That’s down from 55 bushels last year. Minnesota yields are estimated at 63 bushels per acre, down from 69 bushels in 2025. South Dakota farmers averaged 45 bushels per acre for spring wheat, down six bushels per acre from last year. North Dakota barley yields are down 11 bushels per acre from last year, averaging 67 bushels per acre this season. Nationally, the U.S. wheat crop is at its lowest level in 56 years
