Repeated rainfall has kept combines out of the field in the Devils Lake region. Rock and Roll Agronomy owner Jason Hanson estimates about 80 percent of the canola in his area has been harvested, leaving the remaining canola, edible beans and soybeans to come off in muddy conditions. Canola yields have also been disappointing. Hanson said a September 3 wind flattened many fields, cutting into yield potential. “When you’re fertilizing and have yield potential for 2,400, 2,500 pounds and you’re hitting 1,400 to 1,600 because it’s laying flat, that’s not a good situation.”
