The U.S. hog inventory is down from a year ago. USDA says there were 74.3 million hogs and pigs on U.S. farms September 1. That’s down two percent from last year, but up two percent from June. The breeding inventory totaled 5.87 million head, down one percent from a year ago. Market hog inventory totaled 68.4 million head, down two percent from last year, but up two percent from the previous quarter.
