President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet this week in Washington, D.C. During the RRFN Market Outlook panel discussion Wednesday, Heartland Investor Services President Gene Graner sees potential for China to meet its current U.S. soybean purchase commitments. “They’re averaging almost a million metric tons a week,” said Graner. “They could make this 25 million metric tons before the end of the year.” Graner emphasized China’s purchasing patterns are well know with U.S. soybeans typically bought from August through December or early January before transitioning to South American supplies. Graner participated in the Red River Farm Network Market Outlook Panel at the Big Iron Farm Show.
