The Halstad, Minnesota, area has been hit particularly hard by drought. Airborne Seed and Agronomy’s David Staples says conditions deteriorated quickly after a promising start. “There’s not much you can do without rainfall,” Staples said. “We started off looking just beautiful, had a wonderful stand, everything came up, and then just kept missing rain after rain, so about the 4th of July, everything started falling off pretty quickly.” Ben Hilde is also with the agency and said soybeans in the Halstad area are struggling, but some varieties have held up well. RRFN’s Kloe Wadd interviewed Staples and Hilde.
