Using Technology to Improve Crop Reports

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins says USDA is looking to improve the accuracy and transparency of its crop reporting system by using new technology. “We will conduct a pilot to evaluate the use of improved satellite imagery, working with NASA and other federal government agencies and across the country to figure out how we can make this reporting more accurate in a time where the technology is just unbelievable.” Speaking at the Farm Progress Show, Rollins said USDA also plans to expand mobile access to surveys while protecting producer privacy.
