A bill to fund the government through December 11th is on its way to the President’s desk. The continuing resolution passed the House with a lopsided 370-48 vote. It previously passed the Senate 90-to-six. For agriculture, this bill extends mandatory livestock reporting on a short-term basis. It also provides money to fulfill farm ownership loan applications through the Agricultural Credit Insurance Fund Program. The National Association of Wheat Growers put out a statement, saying it is pleased action was taken to avoid a government shutdown. However, NAWG said Congress has a long ‘to-do’ list, including the farm bill and an economic assistance program.
