Farm and biofuel groups are warning that more small refinery exemptions could cut demand for corn and soybean oil. Reuters reports the Trump administration is considering exemptions covering up to 1.8 billion renewable fuel credits. The American Soybean Association estimates that could eliminate about 500 million gallons of biomass-based diesel demand and cost soybean farmers roughly $1 billion. The administration is also considering adding about 500 million gallons to 2027 biofuel requirements to offset demand lost through the refinery exemptions.
