The outlook for the corn market has become more bullish as tighter supplies and strong demand come into focus. Heartland Investor Services President Eugene Graner says the national yield is being debated in the 176-to-179 bushel-per-acre range, but declining carryout could become the bigger market factor. He expects old-crop demand to further reduce projected carryout, potentially pushing ending stocks into the 1.4-billion-bushel range. That would put the stocks-to-use ratio at unusually tight levels. “We are well below ten percent on corn stocks-to-use ratio. We’re probably going to crowd seven percent here, and that’s why this corn has become exciting above $5.” Graner is part of the RRFN forum schedule at the Big Iron Farm Show.
