Rains earlier this summer have helped carry the crops through a dry August at Wimbledon, North Dakota. Mike Clemens admits conditions change quickly outside that pocket. “You get out of that 20-mile radius of our place and things get pretty tough pretty fast.” The last significant rain came July 9, but the ground had been saturated from earlier rainfall. Corn is now fully denting, and he estimates another two to three weeks of favorable weather are needed to finish the crop. “I hope we’re gonna have good weather to finish this crop off.”
