The White House beef decision is based on the need for affordability. North Dakota Farmers Union President Matt Perdue says that is a flawed argument. “U.S. consumers have consistently indicated with their money that they’re willing to pay a little extra for high-quality U.S. beef,” said Perdue. “The markets are working well, and interventions like this certainly don’t help anybody. They do harm the U.S. cattle producer.” NDFU wants the Administration to reverse this decision. “I can’t be any more clear, this is a bad policy decision; I think it’s important that when you make a mistake, you recognize it, you pull back, and you reverse course.”
