North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong and Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring joined with the State Water Commission to activate a water assistance program for livestock producers. A total of $2 million will be available through the drought disaster assistance program. The money will be used for cost-share assistance for new water wells and connections to rural water systems. Armstrong also declared a drought disaster in the aeras facing extremely dry conditions across the state.
