Inflation at the producer level cooled more than expected in July. The Producer Price Index was unchanged from June, compared to economists’ expectations for a 0.2 percent increase. Prices remain 4.7 percent higher than a year ago. Slower inflation could give the Federal Reserve more reason to keep interest rates steady in September. That could provide some relief for farmers facing higher borrowing costs, although fertilizer, fuel and other farm input costs remain elevated
