Dry conditions are limiting crop potential in northeastern North Dakota. Walhalla-area farmer Richard Dunnigan says soybeans have held up surprisingly well despite the lack of moisture, but wheat has been less impressive. Small grain harvest is underway in the region, and Dunnigan isn’t expecting bin-busting yields. He described much of the crop as having “average yields, if they’re fortunate,” as prolonged dryness limits the upside for wheat and other crops.
