Drought continues to pressure crops and livestock feed supplies in western North Dakota. Belfield area farmer Greg Kessel says small grain harvest results have been disappointing. “I’m hearing yields all over the place from teens up to forties and fifties,” Kessel said. “Quality of grain is not so good. Test weights are down.” The drought is also affecting row crops and livestock feed supplies, with some corn already being chopped and producers baling straw for cattle feed. “It’s not a stellar year,” Kessel said.
