Gevo North Dakota, a corn ethanol and carbon capture facility in Richardton, is planning an expansion that could boost demand for North Dakota corn. Gevo purchased the former Red Trail Energy plant in 2025, where corn is processed into ethanol, livestock feed and corn oil. The facility currently produces about 67 million gallons of ethanol annually, with plans to eventually reach roughly 150 million gallons. The expansion could also increase livestock feed production, capture more carbon dioxide and support Gevo’s longer-term plans to produce sustainable aviation fuel in North Dakota.
