Farmland values continue to hold firm despite lower commodity prices and tighter farm margins. USDA’s latest Land Values Summary reflects what Farmers National Company appraiser Kyle Nelson has been seeing across the Northern Plains. “The land value report isn’t a surprise. We’re still seeing some pretty strong sales activity.” Nelson says limited supply continues to support the market. “There’s not a surplus of land on the market for the most part, and there’s still good demand.” While values have remained steady, Nelson says he doesn’t expect a significant decline unless market conditions or land supply change.
