The hot stretch of weather hurt most crops, including field peas. “The field peas started off looking good,” said Ryan Moeller, product manager, CROPLAN. “They’ve definitely matured pretty quickly with this heat stretch. Flowering started nice, but we’ll see how they finish. It got pretty hot at the end, and pod fill could be a concern in some areas.” CROPLAN markets a diverse mix of crops with field peas on the roster for approximately five years. “We have a nice history of launching a new pea every other year and we have one now that’s got better protein and better yield than the previous ones so we’re pretty excited about that.” Moeller was part of the WinField United Answer Plot event at Washburn, North Dakota this past week.
