Farm groups are applauding USDA’s decision to restore the five-percent Prevent Plant buy-up option after previously proposing its elimination. Minnesota Soybean Growers Association Vice President Kyle Jore, who also works in crop insurance development for Watts and Associates, said the additional protection is meaningful. “With input costs being so high, getting that extra coverage means a lot to our growers.” Jore also praised USDA for keeping the program simple. “I know there are other ways it could have been done, but there’s a learning curve with those. Bringing it back the way they did makes a lot of sense.”
