The latest Beige Book from the Federal Reserve Bank says U.S. agriculture is a drag on the U.S. economy. The report highlights low commodity prices, high input costs and tight credit in agriculture. The Beige Book also points out a massive economic divide between the crop and livestock sectors. In the Minneapolis District, the Fed said agricultural conditions have gotten worse. One example given was the inability for some farmers to secure operating loans this spring.
