Despite this week’s extreme heat, most crops are holding up well in east-central North Dakota.”The one poor thing is with our canola; we just started blooming 100 percent right when this heat wave hit,” said Scott Huso, Ridgeline Farms. “Hot weather during canola bloom is not that great for the canola.” Husso says soybeans have responded well to growing conditions and corn has grown rapidly over the past week and a half. While rainfall has been variable, he believes corn has rooted deep enough to withstand the heat.
