The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association reviewed policy priorities during its summer business meeting in Denver. Agriculture and Food Policy Committee Chairman Jeff Schaefer, New Rockford, North Dakota, said one of the biggest discussions centered on the Conservation Reserve Program. “We had a CRP resolution proposal in Nashville this winter and it wasn’t quite right, so we kicked it back. Some state affiliates took it under their wings and brought it forth here in our committee. We’re moving forward on a different CRP policy. It’s not perfect, but it’s much better than it was.”
