In the state breakdowns, Minnesota farmers planted 8.5 million acres of corn. That’s down from 8.9 million in 2025. Soybean acres in the Gopher State were in line with last year at 7.1 million. In North Dakota, corn acreage declined year over year, but soybeans increased. The state’s corn acreage came in at 4.5 million, down from 4.7 million last year. Soybeans rose from 6.5 million in 2025 to 6.8 million this year. South Dakota had a similar trend. Corn acreage declined from 6.8 million acres to 6.3 million; soybeans increased from 5.1 million to 5.6 million acres.
