Bel Brands is expanding to its Brookings cheese production facility, a move the company says reflects confidence in South Dakota’s growing dairy industry and continued demand for Babybel cheese. Jake Anderson, plant director at Bel Brands in Brookings, said strong relationships with the state and local lenders were a key reason the company chose South Dakota. Babybel demand in the U.S. surpassed what the current facility can produce. The expansion is expected to create about 160 new jobs while boosting demand for South Dakota milk production.
