American Soybean Association Executive Committee member and Wheaton, Minnesota farmer Jamie Beyer testified before the House Agriculture Committee this past week. She said the USMCA remains critical for soybean growers. “In the last complete marketing year, Canada and Mexico together accounted for $4 billion in exports. In addition to this, Canada also remains the top export market for biomass-based diesel, a key value-added market for U.S. soy.” Beyer said USMCA strengthened trade rules and biotechnology provisions while reducing the risk of trade disruptions. He concluded with a strong warning. “ASA strongly supports a full sixteen-year renewal of USMCA without delay. Failure to renew USMCA would be catastrophic.”
