The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has activated a formal emergency response after New World screwworm was detected in U.S. cattle for the first time in decades, with USDA confirming nine cases nationwide. The CDC is preparing for possible human exposure, though no human cases have been reported. Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins called it a “whole of government approach” that frees up additional federal resources.
