Grand Farm released its annual Upper Midwest Regional Agriculture Pain Point report. Executive Director William Aderholt said herbicide resistance remains a top challenge, along with disease and pest management, and soil moisture issues, both drought and excess moisture in parts of the valley. Other pain points include matching nutrient applications to variable soil conditions and skilled labor shortages. Aderholt said the data is used “to go out globally and find companies who could be solving these challenges,” testing solutions at Grand Farm’s Innovation Campus before pushing them out through university extension networks “to make sure they provide a return on investment that is meaningful for the amazing farmers we have in the region.”
