National Pork Producers Council leaders say trade, animal health and labor remain top priorities for the pork industry. Speaking at the World Pork Expo, NPPC President-Elect Pat Hord said renewing the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement is critical for maintaining strong export markets, while protecting the nation’s swine herd from foreign animal diseases remains a major focus. Hord also pointed to ongoing workforce shortages, the need for a new farm bill and efforts to address California’s Proposition 12 livestock housing requirements.
