Maddock, North Dakota rancher Travis Maddock is a member of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association officer team. Maddock said the industry has been preparing for a possible screwworm detection for more than a year. “This is not a consumer threat at all; this is not a human health hazard,” said Maddock. “This has nothing to do with the wholesomeness of meat or the quality of meat. What this is is just an animal health issue and just like we did it before, we’re gonna eradicate it again.” Maddock emphasized he is confident in our government and the industry’s ability to meet this challenge. “I think hopefully this will be short-lived.”
