The AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act was included as an amendment to the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s update to the National Highway Traffic Safety programs and passed on a 48-one vote. It is expected to be part of the Surface Transportation bill when it comes to the House floor. The AM Radio bill was first introduced three years ago. The proposal would require automakers to keep AM broadcast radio as standard equipment in all new passenger vehicles. The bill has the support of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting, the American Farm Bureau Federation, National Farmers Union and numerous commodity groups.
