EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin says the agency is accelerating permitting and regulatory decisions impacting agriculture and fertilizer production. “At the Trump EPA, we are operating under the principle of Trump speed,” Zeldin said. “If there is an air permit or water permit, we are doing our jobs as fast and efficiently as possible.” Zeldin said EPA is also preparing additional regulatory action involving diesel exhaust fluid requirements and right-to-repair issues tied to farm equipment. The agency recently gathered warranty data from 14 engine manufacturers related to equipment breakdowns involving diesel exhaust fluid systems. Zeldin said EPA now has the information needed to move forward with additional rulemaking. The EPA is expected to soon release a proposal for public comment that could further scale back diesel exhaust fluid deratement requirements for agricultural equipment.
