South Dakota State University will soon have an endowed position focusing on swine production. The Rick Wahlstrom Endowed Chair in Swine Production recognizes a former swine specialist and head of the SDSU animal science department. Wahlstrom retired in 1988 and passed away in 2023. Nearly a dozen supporters, including the South Dakota Pork Producers Council and Pipestone Holdings, donated to the endowment.
