The Minnesota FFA Convention opened its doors early Monday morning for the Career Connections event. Thousands of students gained access to numerous universities, tech schools and agribusinesses. Minnesota Agricultural Center of Excellence Executive Director Keith Olander outlined his goals at this event. “We really want to retain our students in Minnesota and that’s a major hurdle; it’s very competitive across the borders and rightly so, but that is one of our objectives,” Olander told RRFN. “The other thing is within FFA, we’ve got a unique set of students in terms of their skills and abilities and we want to maintain them in ag.” Olander emphasized that agriculture offers excellent opportunities in terms of careers, compensation and demand.
