Pioneer Field Agronomist Kristie Sundeen says much of northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota may not see meaningful field activity until next month. “I don’t foresee us really getting much activity here now until May for most of my territory.” Sundeen notes soil moisture levels are improved compared to recent years, though some areas may now be dealing with excess moisture. She adds that high input costs are also complicating planting decisions. “There’s a lot of switching in acres, some of those guys are probably 75 percent baked, but there’s still a lot of growers out there that are not 100 percent sure what they’re doing.”
