North Dakota is one of the few states nationwide with absolutely no drought or abnormally dry conditions. In recent months, the U.S. Drought Monitor has shown only a small sliver in Traill and Cass counties with any hint of dry conditions. For the first time since July of 2022, the Drought Monitor lists North Dakota as 100 percent drought-free. Nationally, the Drought Monitor showed improvements in the dry areas of the Midwest, Plains and South. The conditions got worse in numerous Western states.
