CROPLAN Alfalfa and Forage Specialist Jeff Jackson is a fan of triticale as a forage crop. “Triticale to me is a fantastic option for a lot of these people because we’re always looking for that winter cereal that we can cover the acre, hold the dirt in place over winter, and support soil biology by having a living root in the system over the fall and winter.” In addition, Jackson said triticale can make “some fantastic feed in the spring.” Jackson was a speaker at the Central Plains Dairy Expo.
