In a report from American Farm Bureau Market Intel, the proposed Union Pacific-Norfolk Southern railroad merger would leave farmers exposed to pricing and service decisions they can’t control. The report said agricultural shipping is especially vulnerable to consolidation in the rail system, with more than one-third of all grain rail movement nationwide represented by a merged UP-Norfolk Southern. The railroads are expected to resubmit their merger application at the end of April.
